Thursday, May 5 – ASHFALL FIELD TRIP
Field Trip to the Ashfall Fossil Site near Royal, Nebraska. We will meet there at 9:15 AM. Museum personnel will guide us in the unique findings at this geologically interesting site. Sedimentary rock layers (strata) contain fossils that reveal clues to environmental conditions and the animal life of specific times in the past. An opportunity for discussion will follow the tour.

Field trip participants need to register for the field trips as space is limited. The Ashfall Fossil Beds tour requires a Nebraska State Park sticker on all vehicles and there is an $7.50 park entrance fee/person (over age 3) for the site tour. Participants are encouraged to carpool to the site. All participants for both field trips must sign a liability release form. Sign up for this exciting field trip on our registration page!
